Today was my practice read aloud with my teacher and I was feeling very excited, but also very anxious. I read Susie and the Bandits, which was from the textbook for first grade. In order to make this interesting, I wrote the vocabulary words on the whiteboard, and included pictures to help them visualize the word better. Along with that, I had them act out the words as they heard them in the story. This kinesthetic form of learning was very enjoyable for them and they loved to follow along with the movements! I received great feedback from my teacher that I will use to improve for my read aloud next week, such as continuing my classroom management skills, but slowing down my pace when I am asking questions to the class. The recorded footage from today will also be helpful to learn my strengths and weaknesses as a presenter. I really enjoy seeing my teacher implement the Daily 5 in her routine every day, and the students look forward to these centers all day. I am excited to learn from her feedback and become a better reader for my students!
