I believe the goal of education is to help students become passionate about learning, encourage them to think critically about topics, and transform them into lifelong learners. I would say the three most important things I want my students to learn in my classroom are: respect for others and themselves, honesty, and an eagerness to learn.

 

           I think students learn best with hands-on activities and discussion-based lessons. Kinesthetic and collaborative learning are teaching methods I used frequently in my internship experiences. I hope that by using these methods that give students discovery and inquiry opportunities, I will hear students say in the future that they have used the knowledge from my class in their everyday lives.  

 

            Context has a great influence on how I teach because each student brings a different background to the classroom. If I can understand students’ lives and their context for learning, I can help them succeed in the classroom. I strive to find ways to better understand my students so I can take their different learning styles into account while teaching.
