Strategies to Help Focus Student

My focus student has a hard time fluently and automatically saying words, so I would like to implement a few instructional strategies to help guide her and improve her reading. When she is reading independently, I can sit down with her and listen to her reading. When she misses a word, I can ask her to go back and read that sentence again. Another strategy can be to work on one story and ask her to read the story or certain sentences multiple times. This can help develop her automaticity and fluency with these important words that she will see every day. Another strategy I can implement is to work individually with her on tricky vowel combinations. She has a hard time sounding out the "ae" or "ie" vowels, so reviewing these every week would help her become more comfortable with them. These strategies can be very helpful in her learning process and will make her feel more comfortable and confident when she reads.
